The Bee Gees: Spirits Having Flown
This album isn't indicative of my current taste, but it's important for a couple of reasons. It's the first album I ever bought with my own money, but it's also the first music I listened to that wasn't directly influenced by my parents' tastes. I was just starting to try to find my own stuff.
I wouldn't end up sticking with disco, but it's what was popular at the time and several songs from this album got a lot of radio airplay.
Also representative of where my taste was trying to go: it was about that time that I also bought my first single.
I'm not saying I'm proud of it...
My twelve-year-old self would totally be listening to the Jonas Brothers if he were around today.

I am totally unashamed to say that between the two of us we probably have the worst record collection ever.
LOL!
