Thundarr Road | Battle of the Barbarians

Thundarr and friends travel to San Francisco's Chinatown where they encounter an evil wizard who hires a barbarian warrior to fight Thundarr. Is the showdown everything we hoped it would be? David, Noel, and I talk that out alongside discussions of Chinese stereotypes, the appropriateness of dragons, and the best way to escape a slime pit.

Thundarr Road | Wizard Wars

David, Noel, and I visit Saint Louis with Thundarr and the gang. There's a head in a jar, killer elevators, and a fish-man to talk about in the second season episode, "Wizard Wars."

Thundarr Road | Secret of the Black Pearl

Thundarr's journey begins in New York City where he, Ariel, and Ookla meet Gemini, arguably the most iconic of the series' villains. Noel, David, and I cover the episode in detail with focus on characterization, world-building, backstory, and the rules of magic.

Introducing: Thundarr Road

Ooh! New podcast!

On Thundarr Road, Noel Thingvall (Masters of CarpentryGreystoked), David (Dragonfly RippleMystery Movie Night, 'Casting Off) and I explore the episodes and cities of the Thundarr the Barbarian cartoon in geographical order. Since Thundarr episodes almost always featured post-apocalyptic versions of real places, we aren't covering them in the sequence that they were produced or aired, but as Thundarr, Ariel, and Ookla would have experienced them traveling across the country.

In this introductory episode, we start with the history of the cartoon and our own, personal histories with the show.

The Awesome List: Strength, Courage, and a Fabulous Sunsword

Captain Marvel meets Superman

Dr. Hermes has the story behind this cool picture.

It's HERE!

I've been whining for years about not being able to buy Thundarr the Barbarian on DVD. Ken O reveals that I can finally shut up and pull out my wallet. Which I've just done. Thanks, Ken!

Art Show: Strange Adventures on Other Worlds

Mina Harker

By Josh H Black. Mina's one of my favorite heroes. She's the only character in Dracula - including Van Helsing - who really knows what's going on, but the men all try to sideline and ignore her in the name of trying to protect her. And they pay for it.

Diane and I were fortunate to have a son, because if we'd had a daughter I was pushing to name her Mina. Diane - not a vampire fan at all - was opposed and we were headed for a stand-off (that she totally would have won, but that's not important to the story). [Avalanche Software Art Blog]

Enough with the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies. When are we getting a live-action Thundarr?
