A potpourri of fantastic stuff I've found around the web...

I'll need some extra butter, please

"The Japanese Spider Crab has a body the size of a basketball and its legs can straddle a car."

Let me repeat that. Its legs... can straddle a car.

Gorillas Riding Dinosaurs is Migrating

If you're used to reading my Gorillas Riding Dinosaurs column at Robot 6 on Wednesdays (or Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays, for that matter), don't be alarmed when you don't see it this week. It's moving to Sundays.

That's actually a really cool thing, both for my writing schedule and for the column itself. We originally tried to keep columns off the weekends, thinking that most people weren't reading then, but that hasn't been the case and the weekends have turned out to be pretty high in traffic. To beef up that part of the week (and relieve some congestion on the weekdays), GRD and Brigid Alverson's webcomic column, Unbound, are making the switch.

Related to that, I was trying to think of something cool to illustrate this post with and realized how nice it would be if there was more art in the world depicting gorillas riding dinosaurs. I think I've found the theme for my next convention sketchbook.

Art Show: Mermaid Party

I don't find a little tasteful nakedness offensive, so I don't usually warn about it, but there's more than usual in today's post. If that makes you uncomfortable, you might want to skip this one.

Therizinosaurs through the Years

By Tricia Arnold. My son likes to ask me what my favorite dinosaur is a couple of times a day. I keep changing my mind, but about 40% of the time, it's therizinosaurus. I like how he's baffled paleontologists as they've tried to figure out what he looks like, but mostly I just love the claws. [Love in the Time of Chasmosaurs]

By Scott Wegener.

The Wolf Man
