Hellbent for Letterbox | Duel in the Sun (1946)

Shawn Robare returns to help Pax and I discuss the David O. Selznick mess, Duel in the Sun, featuring a legendary cast, but also six directors, a terrible script, and a central relationship that no one (including the movie) cares about. Happily, that makes for a great conversation anyway.

A better film dealing with a family and a powerful patriarch dealing with racist issues is "The Halliday Brand" (1957). Interesting enough, one of the stars is Joseph Cotten.

I am mainly familiar with Jennifer Jones from "Beat the Devil" which is a Bogart film directed by John Huston.

Ooh. Those both sound good. I've added The Halliday Brand to the Hellbent list. Thanks!
