Movie News: Welcome Back, Xander.

Immortals

Hot on the heels of Percy Jackson and Clash of the Times comes a third Greek mythology film called Immortals. It'll star Henry Cavill (The Tudors) as Theseus, who joins the Greek gods to fight the Titans. Kellan Lutz (Twilight) will play Poseidon, John Hurt is Zeus, Mickey Rourke will be King Hyperion, and Isabel Lucas (Transformers 2, Daybreakers) plays Athena. It'll be directed by Tarsem Singh (The Cell) who plans to shoot it "in Renaissance painting style." [/Film]

Three Musketeers director

There are a couple of Three Musketeers movies in the works. One by Paul WS Anderson (Resident Evil) and one by the guy who produced Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. The second of those has a director now: Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith). [/Film]

National Treasure 3 writers

I suppose that one day I could tired of these, but not yet. In fact, they're about the only Nicholas Cage movies I trust anymore. This third one's being written by the guys who wrote the Prince of Persia film. [/Film]

Xander Cage, Black Widow, Alfred Hitchcock, Resident Evil, Buck Rogers, Godzilla, and the real Runaways after the break.
xXx 3 still on

The next xXx movie has changed studios, but it's still in the works. Vin Diesel and Samuel L Jackson are both on board, as is director Rob Cohen. I don't get the antagonism xXx got (I never saw the sequel - no Vin Diesel). It was fantastic and I was immediately ready for about 20 more just like it. [Deadline]

Twin Cities Alfred Hitchcock festival

Minneapolis' Trylon microcinema is teaming up with the Riverview - a long-standing Minneapolis neighborhood theater - to sponsor a month-long marathon of Alfred Hitchcock films spanning four decades. They've already started, but the best is yet to come, so if you live in the area, check out the calendar and make some plans. Unfortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Smith is during C2E2, but I'm going to try to get to Notorious, The 39 Steps, and maybe Marnie.

Resident Evil 4 Photos

There are a couple of more at the link. [/Film]

New Buck Rogers director

Paul WS Anderson's all over this post today. Having just finished Resident Evil 4, he's now signed up to direct the new Buck Rogers movie (taking over the job from Frank Miller who seems to be lying low since The Spirit). Maybe that's we're not hearing anything new about his Three Musketeers adaptation? [/Film]

American Godzilla: Take Two

Let's try to get it right this time, okay? [/Film]

Marvel's Runaways

Since I'm not all that interested in seeing Kristen Stewart play Joan Jett, this is the Runaways movie I'm looking forward to. Glad it's still moving forward. [/Film]

The wife is a HUGE National Treasure fan and I have to agree that they're fun flicks. In our house they're called the "American DaVinci Code". So she'll be stoked to hear that 3 is in the works (and I'll never hear the end of it!).

I heard Runaways was pretty good and that Stewart steals the show. I have a hard time separating her from all that Twillight jazz, but I might just see it. That said, the other Runaways looks to be awesome!

That's good to hear. Playing Joan Jett, she should steal the show. I haven't seen the Twilight movies, but in the couple of things I've seen her she's just as wooden as she appears in the Twilight trailers.

Cage appears in the picture to be looking at a shockingly huge pregnancy test. Early American Colonial, perhaps?

Ha! In all fairness, that's probably a paparazzi shot of Vin Diesel. It was really hard to find a good picture of him that wasn't all PhotoShopped with little hearts and his name all over it.
