Land of the Lost Bad News/Good News

I'm working on this week's Land of the Lost post, but wanted to share a couple of pieces of news first that were passed along to me by Friend of the Blog, Wings from Caffeinated Joe.

The bad part is that Van Charles Snowden, who played the Zarn on Land of the Lost, passed away last month at the age of 71. Snowden was a puppeteer who worked on several Sid and Marty Kroft shows, including HR Pufnstuff (in fact, he was HR Pufnstuf), Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and The Bugaloos. He also did the puppetry work for Chuckie in the Child's Play movies, the Crypt Keeper in Tales from the Crypt, and was the lead puppeteer on Pee Wee's Playhouse

If there's a silver lining to that, it's that Wings found the obituary on Wesley Eure's blog. You probably know that Eure played Will Marshall, but I bet you didn't know he had a blog and you may not know that he's still very active in Hollywood, producing and creating a ton of stuff including PBS' Dragon Tales series. He's also an humanitarian, organizing fund raisers and doing what he can to raise awareness for all sorts of charities and issues. I'm sad to hear about Snowden's death, but it's great to hear that Eure is doing so well for himself and - more importantly - for others.

Very sad about Snowden's death. He entertained a lot for kids, and most will never know his name or face.

As for Eure, he is a decent guy who is just trying to make his way and be good. Too bad Hollywood isn't always the place to treat people well. His posts about the time of the Land of the Lost movie show how shabby the past can be treated. Yet, he always stayed positive. Good on him.
