TV News: Camelot and Rubicon

Camelot

Starz is working on a King Arthur series starring Jamie Campbell Bower (RocknRolla, New Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) as Arthur, Tamsin Egerton (St. Trinians, and who incidentally played the young version of Morgan le Fay in The Mists of Avalon) as Guinevere, Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, FlashForward) as Merlin, and Eva Green (Casino Royale) as Morgan le Fay. No word on Lancelot yet. [/Film]

Rubicon

I was trying to be excited by The Event because it's a conspiracy thriller starring Jason Ritter. I'm still going to give it a shot because of Jason Ritter, but the trailer for it made me a lot less excited about the story. And the above trailer for AMC's conspiracy thriller Rubicon looks so great that I'm even less interested in The Event now.

I haven't dug into AMC's Mad Men or Breaking Bad yet, but they're so well-talked-about that I have high expectations for the network's shot at a genre that I'm more into. [The Ausiello Files]

TV News: Islands, Spies, and Single Ladies

Hawaii Five-O Theme

For no other reason than that Cal reminded me about it, here's one of the five greatest TV show themes of all time. (For some reason, it doesn't show up on my browser when I'm looking at the blog's front page, but it does when you open the post itself. Just in case you can't see it either.)

For all its Daniel Dae Kimness, if the new version doesn't have some variation of this music, it will have utterly failed.

Off the Map picked up

This was probably a no-brainer, but ABC has agreed to air Shonda Rhimes' (Grey's Anatomy) new tropical-island-doctors show Off the Map starring one of my favorite actors, Jason George (Eli Stone, Eastwick, Grey's Anatomy). [The Ausiello Files]

No Handsome Man for Terra Nova

Well, I'm sure it'll have a handsome man in it, but it won't have the Handsome Man, Kyle Chandler. He's apparently passed. [Hollywood Insider]

Chuck, Undercovers, a buttload of other new shows, and Captain Jack dances for "all the single ladies" after the break.

TV News: Burn Notice vs White Collar vs Psych

Human Target in trouble? [UPDATED]

According to Michael Ausiello, FOX can only afford one underperforming show for next season and it's going to be either Human Target or Lie to Me. Human Target's my favorite new show from this season, so no secret which I'm rooting for. Ausiello explores each shows chances a little and seems to favor Lie to Me, but we won't know for sure until Monday (May 17) when FOX announces its Fall schedule. Get those fingers crossed. Updated: Never mind. Apparently, they're both safe! Woo Hoo!

The Event

Since The Class, Jason Ritter's become one of my favorite actors. He was really good in Peter and Vandy and - though I haven't seen it yet - I'm hearing great things about Parenthood (co-starring Lorelai Gilmore). Now he's got a new show at NBC with another Gilmore Girls star, Scott Patterson. Ritter plays a guy who investigates the disappearance of his fiancée and learns about a huge government cover-up. Patterson plays his would-be father-in-law who apparently has secrets of his own. Sarah Roemer (Disturbia, Fired Up!) plays the fiancée. [The Ausiello Files]

New Katee Sackhoff show: Boston's Finest

Katee Sackhoff is filming/has filmed a pilot for a cop show called Boston's Finest. According to Loaded Gun Boston, Sackhoff plays "a detective who teams with a disgraced ex-cop to solve crimes and untangle the conspiracy that sent him underground." Could be cool, I guess, depending on the characters. We'll find out next week if ABC picks it up.

More intriguing than that to me though is this article (again by Michael Ausiello) that talks about Sackhoff's career choices. She passed up a recurring, but ultimately temporary role on True Blood for the shot at an ongoing series gig in Boston's Finest. Which, fine, I haven't started watching True Blood yet, so I'm not disappointed. What I am kind of sad about though is that she gave up a freaking series on USA to be in this season of 24. I have no idea what her USA show would've been about, but as cool as Burn Notice, Psych, and White Collar are, I'm sure I would've loved it.

Speaking of USA shows

These are awesome.
