Death Cab for Cutie: Plans
This was kind of a tough decision. I love My Morning Jacket's sound and Z is a great showcase for it. But Plans has some of the best lyrics I've ever heard. The imagery and final message of "What Sarah Said" is heart-breaking and haunting, and the "Brothers on a Hotel Bed" metaphor is a profoundly sad, but true statement on stale, passionless relationships.
And then there's "Soul Meets Body," which is just catchy as can be.
