Pax and I finally watched the epic classic from directors Henry Hathaway, John Ford, and George Marshall; starring Carroll Baker, Debbie Reynolds, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, and George Peppard. And with cameos by everyone else alive at the time.
Does it live up to its reputation? Will we finally be able to tell it apart from Once Upon a Time in the West? Only one way to find out.

I recently discovered your podcast and have listened to several including this one, Red River, and The Tall Men. I enjoyed them all very much. I may not always agree with your takes, but after all that’s to be expected.
The reason I’m writing is that after listening to your podcast on How the West Was Won, I was left scratching my head. How could someone review this movie without mentioning Cinerama? I would think this would be important for multiple reasons, even if just to let people know that may decide to watch it why they may notice verticals bars on the screen from time to time.
The other item that I think could have been mentioned was why it had an overture, intermission and exit music. This was all part of a Roadshow presentation. I am old enough to have attended a few Roadshow presentations and was lucky enough to have had a Cinerama theater to see them in.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I’m listening and keep up the good work! I will try to get caught up now that I’ve found you!
Thanks for the comments! We do tend to focus on the story and characters more than technical aspects of the movies, just because that's where our personal interests are, but I very much appreciate the feedback. I hope you continue to enjoy the podcast.
