Last Jedi was a Top 5 movie for me last year, so it's no secret that I loved it, but if you're in the mood to hear me gush at length, then Nerd Lunch's latest episode is for you.
OR... maybe you're in the mood to hear a variety of opinions on the movie. If that's the case, you should also listen. I loved it, Carlin hated it, and everyone else is somewhere in between. Jeeg has the perspective of someone outside of the hardcore Star Wars fandom, Pax comes at it with a heavy love of Luke Skywalker, and Kay brings knowledge of and passion for the Extended Universe. It's five friends having a heart-felt, but rational discussion about the most divisive movie of the year. It's almost like we've brought balance to the Force.

I'm eager for this to become a running gag about how this is still recording (like the Batman episode!)
I forget if it made it into the final episode, but Pax said something about having to stop editing Batman to edit this one.
Now that I've had a chance to listen to the episode its gotten me thinking about how many childhood heroes were we've gotten to see a definitive and satisfying end. I'm curious how you or some of our other podcast brethren would compare controversial conclusion to Luke Skywalker's life to the death of James T Kirk in Star Trek Generations or various comic book superhero deaths.
You should tweet that question to CT! They're looking for Ask Us Anything questions right now for a future episode and that's a great one!
Done and Done! Thanks for the recommendation! Maybe I should have name dropped you to guarantee my foot in the door!
As far as the "childhood hero meets a tragedy that forces him into retirement/grumpy recluse" narrative goes, I immediately thought of how Batman The Animated Series spinoff "Batman Beyond" pitched how Bruce Wayne would stop being Batman.
Are you at all familiar with this series?

Yeah! I didn't keep up with it, but I watched most of the first season and liked it a lot.
