Dragonfly Ripple | Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)

David and I discuss the second Avengers movie and whether it lives up to the promise of the first one. We also talk about Brutasha, compare Quicksilvers, and decide how we'd like to see the X-Men introduced to the MCU.

Keep your thoughts on Paul Bettany as Vision close at hand because "Legion", which we'll be watching for Mystery Movie Night, feels like a movie length audition for this role.

I'm curious as to when it was decided that he'd be the voice of Jarvis and then be Vision. It feels more like a happy accident than a plan.

Actually I wondered if Vision was filling in for another character since his messianic "no man of woman born" cradle and infinity stone forehead feels more like Adam Warlock than the Vision of the comics.

I'm right there with you on the Bruce/Natasha relationship. I have no issue with it, its just so sudden. I guess if you're going to have all these characters together it makes sense for some romantic pairing to occur at some point. But with Cap, Tony, and Thor committed to relationships in their solo films that just leaves Natasha, Hawkeye, Hulk, Maria Hill and Nick Fury as candidates for "guess who's getting a subplot?"

I agree about the "happy accident" feel of Jarvis' becoming the Vision. If it was planned, I'm super impressed. Either way, it was a great development that feels natural to the characters and world.

Tony has a line in the original Avengers, "grow a spine Jarvis" but it seems unlikely as intentional foreshadowing.
