Movie News: I'm Too Sexy for My Lines

I've been a bad blogger for the last couple of days, so I'm sorry about that. I'm under deadline for a story in which Western Bigfoot has to solve some grisly murders, so that's been distracting (in a good way).

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 ship and casting news

/Film has a couple of pictures of something that sure looks like it was made for Pirates of the Caribbean 4, as well as casting news about Jack Sparrow's sidekick for the film.

After the break: TCM goes Under the Sea, Cinematic Titanic goes to Tiki Island, and Christopher Nolan goes to MI6. Also, Thor and Muppets updates.

TCM's Under the Sea Marathon

Today is Jacques Cousteau's 100th birthday and Turner Classic Movies is celebrating with an all-day marathon of his undersea documentaries and specials. Even better, they're taking every Friday this month to showcase other undersea adventure movies. Last Friday was 1929's Mysterious Island and 1969's Captain Nemo and the Underwater City. The next couple of Fridays will bring Around the World Under the Sea, The Incredible Mr. Limpet, Underwater!, Beneath the 12-Mile Reef, the original Flipper, and The Deep. You can see the entire schedule for the celebration here.

Cinematic Titanic's Danger on Tiki Island

Available this coming Monday, June 15th.

Christopher Nolan's Bond film

You don't have to wait as long for it as you might think. Double O Section explains why.

Entertainment Tonight's Thor segment

ET did this cool segment on Thor featuring interviews with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Kenneth Branagh, as well as some behind-the-scenes clips that include a shot of Anthony Hopkins as Odin. Well worth watching.

The New Muppet Movie

I haven't unreservedly enjoyed a Muppet movie since The Great Muppet Caper, so I'm holding back some enthusiasm for this next attempt (due Christmas 2011). But its being written and directed by people known for their comedies is very encouraging.

I had no desire to see another Pirates until they cast Ian McShane. My heart yearns for an R rating so he and Capt. Jack can sit across from each other shouting, "C**ksucker!"

On the Muppet front the new script deviating from the orginal concept of it being filmed on a backlot is sad. Hopefully Paul Williams will still be involed musically.

Great Muppet Caper is my favorite! Besides the Christmas carol I didn't really care for the other movies after it either.

Disney is really pushing the Muppets right now in the parks. They just refurbed their 3D movie. Lots of new Muppet Merch is starting to show up. Also this year's Hallmark Muppet ornament is Animal. I might need two, one for my desk and one for the tree.

I do like the Muppet Christmas Carol a lot, but as a Christmas Carol movie and not so much as a Muppet feature. Any time the Muppets are playing other characters instead of celebrating their own personalities and dynamics, it can be a fun movie, but it always feels like it's missing something important.
