Black Canary Plans ... Revealed!

Details have begun to come out about DC's "other plans for Black Canary."

First are the connecting covers to the Green Arrow/Arsenal crossover that will effectively boot Black Canary out of the monthly Green Arrow book. You can see the entire mural at DC's blog, but the relevant ones for Black Canary are the first two: Justice League: Rise and Fall and Green Arrow #31. I'm totally speculating here, but I imagine that Green Arrow #31 will explain Black Canary's absence (or, at least, extreme reduction in focus) from the series.

Fortunately, as I hoped, she's going to a far better place. DC's relaunching Birds of Prey with the classic line-up of heroes and Gail Simone as the writer.

Imagine if Dan Brown started writing new Harry Potter novels. Now imagine how you'd feel when JK Rowling said, "Screw that noise. I'll write them again." That's how I'm feeling right now.

I'm not exactly thrilled with Ed Benes as the artist, but I don't totally hate his stuff either. People seem to like him, so if he helps make this a successful seller, I can deal.

In related news, this is a creepy doll, but I kind of like it.
