Tow Swift and His Barry Sonnenfeld Movie

Barry Sonnenfeld has sold a pitch to Columbia for a movie based on the adventures of Tom Swift. I only read one Tom Swift book as a kid (the one about His Jetmarine) and remember thinking that it was a bit juvenile for me even then. Basically Hardy Boys-level stuff only with awesome gadgets and settings. As someone who was already into Ian Fleming and Edgar Rice Burroughs, it didn't hold my attention.

But as long as Sonnenfeld plays it straight and doesn't try to make it strictly a kids' movie, it's a great idea for a possible franchise.

I totally loves me some Top Swift. Next to the Hardy Boys I read the most of that that series as a kid and never found him smug or arrogant...go figure.
