Monsterpocalypse: The Comic

I don't play Collectible Card Games anymore. There's something I don't like about a game where the person with the most disposable income is able to buy rarer, more powerful cards and dominate. So, while I'm tempted by the concept and the gorgeous art I've seen so far, I won't be playing the Monsterpocalypse card game.

I will however be reading the comic book. It sounds a lot like Kill All Monsters!, but I say there's room for everyone's giant robots vs. giant monsters comics.

As a veteran of Magic, Mage Knight, Mechwarrior (CMG), Warlord: Saga of the Storm and other games, this is actually the first collectible game I've played that doesn't have a more money = more powerful stuff system to it. The game naturally limits you to only fielding a maximum 5 Elite Units per Force, and you need more of the common guys than the rare booster pulls to field a good army (rares are more likely to be support units that may do something funky or useful but rarely can fight). And since it's ridiculously easy to get the important figures (the Monsters), collecting a working force by purchase and trade is a snap.

Crap. I think you've just persuaded me to check it out. My son would love it.
