February Theatrical Releases

What a slow, miserable month at the movies. Not that there's nothing to watch, but I'm not really for truly excited by any of it.

Last Weekend

The Eye: The Japanese version of this is the only original J-Horror movie I've ever seen. It was okay, but didn't support the notion that everyone had been shoving at me about how Japan was the salvation of the horror genre. I'm not a Jessica Alba fan except in the most superficial way possible, but I'm curious to compare this to the first one.

February 8

Fools Gold: I love Matthew McConaughey. This has more How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days vibe than I want, but it's McConaughey treasure-hunting and I'll watch that.

February 14

The Spiderwick Chronicles: This was going to be my most looked-forward-to movie of the month until I heard that they've condensed all five books into one movie. I haven't read the books, but that disappoints me for some reason that I can't put my finger on. Probably because I was harboring a secret hope that this might engage me on a Harry Potter level, but that might've been unrealistic to begin with.

Jumper:
So now this is my most-looked-forward to movie. It reminds me a little of Wanted only not as cool, but it grows on me every time I see the trailer.

February 15

Definitely, Maybe: Yeah, it looks sappy, but I'm a Ryan Reynolds fan. And sometimes I like sappy.

February 22

Vantage Point: No wait, this is my most-looked-forward to movie. Okay, maybe the month isn't a total waste. I'm definitely in the mood for a good thriller with an excellent cast.

Be Kind Rewind
:
Wait a minute. Wasn't this supposed to be out last month? Oh... that was it's debut at Sundance. Very sneaky, Jack Black/Mos Def movie. I still want to see you though.
