Frank Baum would've been 150 today. He was born in Chittenango, New York and published a children's book about witches, spooky trees, and evil flying monkeys in 1900.I've never read any of the Oz books (though I hope to once my son's old enough), but I saw the movie often enough in my childhood that the scarier images from it became significantly seared into my imagination and directly led to a later love of chilling, creepy stuff.

That's funny, I haven't read any of the books either, but can't wait to read them to my daughter when she's old enough.
