Sequential Tart Mention

Ricardo Porven briefly mentions my involvement on Three Days the Devil Danced in his Sequential Tart interview.

Reviews: RUNES OF RAGNAN and PULL LIST: 7-13-05

I'm being forced to take a much more relaxed approach to when I get reviews up. Especially the Pull List reviews, which take much longer for me to do than I always expect them to.

So, with that in mind, I posted a couple of reviews earlier this week and forgot to tell you about them:

Runes of Ragnan

Pull List featuring:
Serenity #1
Action Comics #829
JLA #116
Seven Soldiers: Guardian #3
Rann-Thanagar War #3
All-Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder #1

Mailbag

Went to the post office tonight to mail some Tales from the Inner Sanctum and picked up some mail in the process. Wanna know what I got? Okay.

Johnny Public #9 from Hula Cat Comics. So far I've loved everything I've read from these guys. They're basically very fancy mini-comics. I haven't read any Johnny Public though, so it'll be interesting to see what it's like coming in on the middle of the series.

Death Comes to Monkeysuit: A Monkeysuit Anthology #5. Nice, thick book. The art is varied, professional, and fun to look at. Looking forward to digging into this.

Myriad #1-3. I gave the first issue of this anthology series a mixed review, but the guys were cool enough to send me the next two issues (as well as another copy of #1). Gonna keep an open mind about the stories I didn't like in #1, but I'm looking forward to the continuations of a couple of stories.

Milestone

I'm really nervous about announcing this for some reason. I think I don't want to jinx it.

But I've signed the paperwork and am going to mail it today, so I think it's safe. And it's not the kind of news that anyone else is going to want to be first to announce.

I just sold my first piece of fiction to IDW. It's a prose short story called "Completely Cold" and it'll appear as a back-up feature to all of their September comics. Especially cool for me is the fact that The Keep #1, which is adapted from one of my all-time favorite horror novels, is coming out that month.

Big sigh. Still nervous.

Resolution

I've been saying this for a couple of years now, but I have got to get to San Diego Comic-Con next year. This is my first year as Editor in Chief of Comic World News and I'm actually getting invitations to parties and press conferences and stuff. I wasn't expecting that.

Now that I know, I need to plan to be there next year.

Great Curve: 24

It seems like I use The Great Curve a lot to talk about comics stuff my friends are involved in, but it's not my fault that I have such creative friends.

Today it's Ty Gorton and Josh Medors's Runes of Ragnan 24-Hour story project.

Review: PULL LIST 6-29-05

Pay no attention to my heavy panting. It's just that I'm still struggling to catch up and I'm horribly out of shape.

Last week's Pull List is finally up. It covers:

Billy the Kid's Old Timey Oddities #3
Outsiders #25
The OMAC Project #3
Seven Soldiers: Shining Knight #3
Hellblazer #209
Elk's Run #2
Witchblade #86
The Amazing Spider-Man #521
X-Men #172
Runaways #5
Young Avengers #5
The Phantom #7
The Grimoire #4

Salome: Conan and "The Frost Giant's Daughter"

I had the latest Conan article written late last week, but had some troubles getting it posted. Finally got it working today.

Review: STICKLEBACK

Still scrambling to catch up to obligations, so I just posted a very short review of Graham Annable's Stickleback. Probably the shortest review I ever wrote.

Catch Up

I'm trying to catch up with some stuff here, so pardon the bullet points. This is what I've been up to this week.

Put a new Conan column up at Pop Thought.

Got the Pull List up for last week. It covers:
Mr. T #1
Hellboy: The Island #1
Legion of Super-Heroes #7
Teen Titans #25
Papa Midnite #5
Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere #1
Easy Way #3
Sea of Red #3
Captain America #7
New Avengers #6
Black Panther #5
House of M #2
Rogue #12

Also got a review up at CWN for Alternative's A Strange Day.

I posted a link on the Great Curve about the Sci-Fi channel's Amazing Screw-On Head cartoon.

And last, but not least, I've directed my first animated movie.
